Made in China Expands Global Market with Strong Technological Capabilities

The Export Volume of China's Fiber Optic Cables and Other Products Grew Rapidly in the First Quarter. Made in China Expands Global Market with Strong Technological Capabilities

Beijing, China National Radio  Network, May 18 (Reporter Guo Miao)reported that according to the News and Newspaper Abstracts of the Voice of China, China National Radio  (CNR), in the first quarter of this year, China's foreign trade export has seen structural improvement and optimization, and the export volume of several products of optical fiber cables and optical modules in the first quarter increased by over 10% year on year. Chinese products are expanding their global market with their strong technological capabilities.

Wang Dong, who is responsible for overseas sales at a fiber optic production enterprise in Nantong, Jiangsu, said that due to the large-scale construction of computing power centers in regions and countries such as the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, special optical fibers that can be bent significantly and transmit data at high speed, with high stability, and low loss, have become hot products in the market.

Wang Dong: G.657.A2 optical fiber is also the most popular optical fiber needed by computing power centers, with a price increase of more than 10 times compared to last year. Last year, it was between $3 and $4 (per core kilometer), and this year it is over $30. Orders increased fourfold year-on-year.

According to industry statistics, the annual investment scale for newly built computing power centers overseas is expected to reach 4.2 trillion yuan in 2026, and domestic optical fiber cable companies are accelerating their overseas layout.

The C-band hollow optical fiber cable produced by this company, which is suitable for long-distance data transmission, has already been sold on a small scale overseas. Hollow optical fiber can allow light to run in the air, while glass only acts as a "reflective wall", with the advantages of ultra-high speed and maximum capacity.

Qin Yu, General Manager of the company: Hollow fiber has many advantages such as ultra-low latency and ultra-low loss, making it an ideal and perfect optical transmission medium.

At the same time, the export scale of optical modules responsible for photoelectric signal conversion is also constantly growing. The optical module is the core component of the computing power center for photoelectric conversion and data transmission. At present, the optical modules exported overseas are mainly 1.6T models, capable of transmitting 95 2GB high-definition movies in just one second. In the first quarter of this year, the export of optical modules increased by about 30% year-on-year.

Shi Chuan, a staff member of an optical module enterprise in Wuhan: There are approximately 400 to 500 devices in this workshop, and currently orders ranging from 100G to 1.6T are very stable.

The intensive landing of global computing power centers and exponential growth in bandwidth demand have pushed China's optical communication to the center of the stage. Chinese enterprises not only occupy over 70% of the global share of optical modules and 60% of the share of optical fibers, but also accelerate their pace in cutting-edge fields such as hollow fiber optics, high-speed optical modules, and even super interconnect modules.
